Thank you, I'm just getting started with bombing and would like to learn the advantages & disadvanges of each mod before doing. I also don't see much discussion of the disadvantages of a mod in the forums.
I'm interested in increasing the top speed of the engine and read that sitffer springs will prevent valve float. Are you saying that 60 pound springs are the stiffest I can get for this engine? If stiffer springs are available what are the disadvantages of using them?
Sounds like an ECU update is necessary to increase top engine speed.

There probably are better quality springs available. Most people upgrading valve springs are doing so in 12V engines. The 24V stockers are beyond fine for most people.
To make power on a diesel you need to add fuel (fueling box, SMARTY tuner, and/or injectors), and get a free flowing air filter, and get a 4 or 5" exhaust.
After that, a turbo upgrade is necessary.
Of course, before you start this, you need to have guages and a transmission upgrade (clutch for a stick - full meal deal ($$) if you have an auto)
I am not sure when the engine defuels but I believe you can take care of that with a tuner.

Thank you, are there disadvantages to using the 110# springs? And are the 110# springs primarily for higher boost/compound turbos? Are they necessary for higher engine RPM?
Dr. Evil, thank you. I think your basic upgrade list should be a sticky thread. EJWA & monitor is at the top of my list.
