Well guys, i bit the bullet and bought a new vp44 and installed it. It quit smokin like a train, quit shutting down on pull , but still surging on pull although not quite as bad.
The computer is actually off another truck, same year, engine, and transmission set up. The origninal went out back last winter, bought one form autocomputerexchange.com total pos. ran worse with the new computer. Then it would cut out about 25-30 mph.

Any other ideas guys? also, when I installed the edge nozzels a local diesel shop said with the 24 valve I did not need to pop test the injectors. Is that true? or should I get them tested and where near Eastern WV can I have them done

Yes you must pop test your injectors. If they told you that you didn't need to then I would stay away from their shop.
