Okay so the whole fuel pump thing... You could be getting 2psi to the pump and the pump wouldn't loose any power it would how ever put a great strain on it and in turn make the pump go bad. If your running a FASS your pressure should be fine, but its always nice to notice what fuel pressure you have with a gauge so that you know to change the filters and what not. I don't think putting bigger injectors in the truck would help anything if they installed real 80hp injectors. You would be able to notice a difference in a 50hp injector. As stated earlier your VP44 might be going out but you would notice a drop in power even with stock injectors. Your 80hp injectors would have helped even with a going out VP44. Also it was mentioned that you might have to get your injectors pop tested... This is a must to 24v, how you know that your not spraying the cylinder walls if your didn't know what the spray of the injectors where? Even if the nozzles where new or used you always want to pop test them just to make sure. If I where you I would install a fuel pressure gauge just to make sure that you are getting adequate fuel and ask the diesel shop if they sent the injectors out to get them pop tested in shimmed.
