Default dropping the tank

so i called the diesel shop in town and asked them some questions about some lift pump stuff and i out of curiosity aked how much it would be if they installed a raptor 150 for me. the response was " it depends on if we have to drop the tank or not. I thought that all tanks had to be droped to do a propper install. if im wrong can some one please explain why some would need to be dropped and some not? thanks, john

if you plan on doing the draw straw yes you would have to drop the tank or take the bed off.

Some models use the stock pickup tube yet, so they wouldnt require the bed to be taken off. All others yes and do it yourself! Its well worth the money saved and it'll help you better understand your truck and you know its done the way you want it done. Its also WAY easier imo to remove the bed! Ive done both of my trucks this way and I wouldnt do it any other way.

B-E-A-UTIFUL! I know mine doesn't look that good. I removed the tank when I did mine. It was really light as there was minimal fuel in it, but when it sloshed it made it a little hard to control on the jack. Plus, once I had it all done, there was so little fuel in the tank I couldn't stop or accelerate very hard at all until I got to a gas station.

If it is just a Raptor, there is no reason to drop the tank or lift the bed off. Putting a draw straw in is a different situation. Both situations can be handled on your own. A few buddys to lift the bed off, and your set!!

I agree with RED, pulling the box off is alot easier than dropping the tank, we've done both.

i think you get a better fit on the draw straw with the bed off.

if you don't have an in tank pump there is no need to remove the tank and put in a draw straw. But you can do the install yourself really. only a couple hrs. hardest part for me was getting the factory fuel supply fitting off.

yeah. im pretty sure that the guy before me had the dodge dealership replace the lift pump, and all i see is a fuel filter housing. so i am thinking that it has a in tank lift pump right now. yeah i always planned on doing the project myself but it was news to me that dodge had the bright idea of making things harder to get to. my dad has a front end loader so I think the least i can do is lift it up to the pint i can get to the tank easier.
P.S. rattler! that dual exhaust set up is really cool.
