First Diesel truck owned but have had lots of buddies with them
I have a 99 Dodge 24v SLT Reg. Cab
It has (supposedly from previous owner) 150 Edge Jammers, Edge Comp Box, K&N Air Intake, FASS 150, (Supposedly) Billet input and output, Upgraded valve body, and triple disc torque convertor with lock-up
I have rough start-up issues, it cranks for 10-15 seconds after truck has been ran already and lets off a little haze my first thought was injectors
Little did I know he never emptied the water seperator filter and has fuel line from the FASS system coiled up and zip tied
First I'm going to change filters and shorten the fuel line so it is a straight shot and prime the system
Has anyone else had this issue and what was their solution?
Next a list of parts for a Fun, Reliable (I don't know there is such a thing ha) truck since it is my daily driver
Any Info is appreciated!

Yard the Jammers out and get a decent injector, talk to Luke about that one. Fireballs are great bang for the buck.

Fuel line coiled should make much difference, but shorter is better.

Any codes in the truck? Be a good place to look for previous incident.

I agree if it has jammers in it, take them out.Put in some fireball injectors (Diesel Dawgs)from luke. You have a fuel pressuse gauge good if not look into getting one in the future, that will keep your fun and reliable truck just that.Did he have paper work for the trans parts?

Thanks, I'll check into those fireball injectors
No the only paper work he had on the trans was for cooler lines.
It shifts fine while I'm just cruising around town, but half way into the throttle it shutters back and forth inbetween 3rd and up
Would this be the famous Dodge Governing Solenoid?

Could be, or the T/C lock up. There is a cheap "fix" that may or may not help the solution:

It could be but if he have all that work done to the trans, you think he would have changed that solenoid. You may be expericing the conveter unlocking and locking in 4th gear.Systoms are around 40 mph.

Right on, it is right around 40-50mph
And I wouldn't put it past him not to
I'm more concerned about the rough smokey starts for the minute.
It will start up fine if the truck has been off for 2-3 hours and cooled off, but if its still hot it cranks for 10-15 sec and fires

Not wanting to start when hot is usually a sign of bad electronics in the VP44.

Not starting when hot can also be a sign of a damaged metering diaphragm. Some time when you know the hard start condition is going to exist or you are having issues with it. Try disconnecting the lift pump circuit. Then try restarting it. If the truck fires right up, then you know you have a metering diaphragm issue. The solution is to hook the lift pump circuit up to an oil pressure switch so that it doesn't come on until the engine has started.
