Ya i know what the grease is for. I have used wd for the same thing on several trucks. If you have some grease handy it works better but if you dont and have some wd or the like it will work just fine.

or leave the truck idling and drill and tap it. no shavings in manifold for sure just wear safety glasses

Put a magnet near the bit, it will catch ALL the shavings.

Just my opinion, yours may vary.

No need for magnets, grease, running the engine or any of that BS. 99% of the drill/tap debris comes out the top, anything else goes harmlessly trhough the turbo within about 1 second after you start it up. Pull the intake hose to see if it's spinning, good to go.
