my 97 runs close to 60 with the s400 with allen bolts and stock gasket.:tu:
|
stock gasket meaning a new stock one or the one the truck was built with. my stock gasket has stock bolts and 200k on it. i set my wastegate to bout 38 on my silver 62 cuz i dont wanna pop the gasket. can i git the bolts and install em as is
also is there a retorque after heat cycles?? |
2 questions; why did you not replace the headbolts in the correct order, and why would you not reset valve lash? No offense, but I am at a loss here.
|
its the Original stock head gasket you dont seperate the head you just change the bolts 1 by 1 ,
changing them 1 by 1 also allows you to do them in any order you want because they are stock torque specs, if you removed them all at once then yes you would jump around. and as for the valve lash , the adjustment nut for the valves is not moved as the entire rocker is taken off , nothing changes your just putting in stronger bolts that will keep your head gasket from blowing with high boost pressure |
You do not install bolts or studs in any order when not removing the head, nor do you not readjust valve lash once the rockers have been removed. I feel sorry for you whomever told you this was the proper procedure.
|
"Proper Procedure" on anything aftermarket is a matter of opinion.
Thanks For yours , i already shared mine:c: |
yeah i think i would maybe change em one by one but final torque in the ight order and def gotta lash the valves...just dont seem right to take em off and not check em.....010 is a lot on a lash setting
|
you can change one at a time if you are sure your gasket is not leaking. thats the way my truck was done several years ago by the other owner. its a chance but guys do it all the time.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- you dont re tq these bolts |
