Default Few questions on mods

Hello everyone,
I am a newbie on here, but my buddies have accounts on here and say you are very resourceful. I have a 2002 24v Cummins, and I absolutely love it. I just have questions about modding and other possible issues I am having.

First let me start off saying, that I have done some mods already. I put on a 4" turbo back exhaust, open pipe straight through. I also had the tranny sent out to Bullydog and had it built to the hilt. My injection pump went out last year, around this time, and thank the good Lord, it was covered under warranty, and the dealer replaced it. I also had the natorious oil leak between the vacuum pump and the power steering pump, and had the seals replaced, and no leaks.

3 days ago, I started to drive, and between take off and 30mph, I heard a loud "vacuum" noise coming from inside the engine compartment, and after 30mph, it would go away. Is this my vacuum pump telling me its getting tired? If this is the case, do I have to get a new one, or buy the $59.95 rebuild kit for it? And will this kit work? I would really like to take care of this before major catastrophe happens.

As far as modifying goes, what would you guys recommend to start with first. My buddy put the Air Dog fuel pump on his Duramax, and he is impressed with it. Should I look into this? I was also looking at programmers, and I have been researching and thinking, and I have been leaning towards the Mads Smarty programmer, any thoughts here? I have the transmission to hold up to whatever I throw at it, now I want to take care of the engine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well first off before you do anything you need a better fuel pump to keep your vp44 alive like your buddy has like airdog or fass or even raptor they all make good pumps. Smarty is a very good programmer you wouldnt be disappointed with it.

Thank you "98". I agree with you. I have been thinking and have a basic understanding of how to go about modifying. I will start with a better fuel pump, then start looking into programmers. Let me ask this, with a new fuel pump and a programmer, will it cause issues with stock injectors?

I have a boost gauge and a pyrometer. I want to put a light on for the pump if it should go. How did you like your adrenaline? How did it work with the truck?

it was awesome except for at the time they didn`t have the fuel pressure sensor working right
I would add a fuel pressure gauge instead of a light
that way you can see the fuel pressure instead of having a light come on when it is too late to do anything

If you put a lot of power to your truck it is best to also put injectors so every thing flows better.
