Smile Air Dog

got my new air dog pump installed today and all i can say is wow. the truck idles and starts better and its not as loud at idle as it use to be. the install was pretty simple. i think the hardest part was getting the quick connect fitting off the fuel tank. anyway im happy with the setup and would recommend it to others that are looking for an aftermarket lift pump for their diesels.

I haven't looked to close at the Air Dog myself so I'm just bein lazy here and askin instead of doin my own readin but what is the comparison between it and the FASS. Are they about the same. fuel flow ratings, Air removal, price and warranty type of things.

Bubba,

I would say same except I belive the Airdog is more $. There was a big ruckus about both FASS vs Fuel Preporator a few years ago.

I actually though Airdog/Fuel Preporator kinda faded out. Haven't heard anything about them in a looong while.

Guess I was wrong.

There's a big diff between the two. The air dog is about half the size and much more quit. I had an air dog on my 01 and will be putting one on my 06 when I get time.

I hear (see) people say this, but over the rattle of the motor on a 2nd gen, how? did you mount it to sheet metal?

The only time I hear mine is waiting for the grid heater to cycle.

I can hear the motor whine over the 5" straight pipe. Its actually really loud and annoying. Even while sitting at a stop light idling. Maybe theres somethin wrong with it. It works great though.

you need to put rubber mounts to dampned the vibes fron the unit...................I did a mount to the frame on an 04.5 and it drove me crazy so I fabbed up a rubber mount to dampnen the noise.........much better now
