Default Best cold air intake? Looking to buy, but confused

Ok need to know which is best for my setup. I want to keep the egts down but engine safety and longevity is VERY important! I am currently running a stock intake box with a K&N filter that came with the truck. Keep in mind I offroad from time to time, dry and wet dirt.. As always thanks in advance for the help

The best is a coin toss. Everybody here will have a different opinion on what's best. But I think across the board you will find that what you have, a K&N drop in replacement is the worst you could have.

Myself I love my K&N Canon filter which is a cone type replacement filter. AMSOIL makes some good ones, and the old standard is the BAHF with many more in the mix.

Like Uncle Bubba said everyone is going to have their perferences. The AFEs are nice, both of my truck have the stage 2 which includes the tube from the box to the turbo. I run the AFE pro dry filters because where I live we collect alot of dust and when it rains it gets pretty muddy.

I've got an S&B on my 2nd. gen. and I really like it. It's got a new bigger tube from the turbo to the box, and the box has a clear lid so you can keep an eye on the filter which is washable.

I had a AFE but got tired of the oiling and cleaning. I now have the amsoil 4510? I think, with outwear. Love it. Easy to clean and maintain and sucks alot of air

One a these days I'm gonna build me exactly what I want in a filter set up. I like certain elements of a few of them. I want the tube that I have with my K&N because so far it is the cleanest flow tube I have found, I want the complete enclosure housing with the clear top of the S&B and want to attache the AMSOIL filter to the end of it. To provide air flow I want an intake coming from the windshield cowl like the old Scotty's had.

I was torn between the AFE and the S&B...and now I still am. They both seem to flow quite well. I'm not a fan of oiled filters due some issues in the past so I'd be looking at the pro dry and the paper S&B filter. Anyone have anything else to add about which one to get?
