Default Hypertech programmers year specific?

Sorry, had to post. I searched abit, to no avail... Was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not the Hypertech Power Prgrammer III is year specific? I came across a guy that offered to sell me his for $50. But his truck is an 02 5spd, and mine is a 99 auto. $50 is not alot, and I could probably turn around and sell it for the same amount if it didn't work, but I figured I'd try and save myself the trouble. I did check the website, and found nothing too helpful. Maybe someone has some experience with this situation?

they are not year specific. I went to their website and looked up 99 ram 2500 and part number is 5009 then looked up 02 ram 2500 and part number is 5009. So it should work 98.5-02

Thanks for the expeditious replies, guys. And from what I've seen, the hypertech is adjustable up to 60 hp or so. It'll be my first real power mod, and I'll be picking it up next month

I would upgrade the fuel system before anything and add fuel pressure gauge it's the only way to keep your truck alive.

Way ahead of ya. Got a FP gauge goin in next week. If the pressure's no good, I'll act accordingly before I use the tuner. Trucks been parked for a few weeks anyway.
