Default hx35/40 Questions

Ok my buddy has got the same truck as me his is the 98 1/2 he has basically all the same upgrades as me except he has the juice w/t attitude and a 5 speed , he wants to do the hybrid upgrade but the place he called said he needs to do the exhaust side upgrade instead because a bigger compressor housing will make his egt's go up, I can't tell him the right answer because I haven't got my turbo yet, but to my knowlege that doesnt make sense why would more air flow make his egt's go up?I am thinking maybe they want more money out of him..

The hybrid is not the best bang for the buck unless you have a turbo mounted brake that you must keep.

You will get some EGT relief. But running the exhaust through that 12cm housing is part of the heat problem. And yes, you can go to a 14cm wastegated housing, but the turbine is still very restrictive.

It'll be fine for a small set of towing twins to about 530HP, but that's about all she wrote. When you look at the cost of batter alternatives for slightly more money, you will get far more for your dollar.

Also, the 12V will bark and surge that setup like crazy without a larger turbine housing.

thats pretty much what I told him he doesnt really have an egt problem anyways I think he just wants to keep up with his dads common rail ....I am the one thats going for all the power he just pulls with his , I just went for the hybrid cause its all I can afford and its better than nothing , this stuff gets expensive its taken me 3 yrs to get this far..and almost a couple of divorces.....

Imho.... Stay away from the hybrid's! Unless you drive like grandpa! Everyday just need a bit more than what you have is fine. Not the most durable things in the world.
Snapped shafts are common if you work it!
