Default installed edge and got issues

i put an edge juice w/attitude on my truck and as soon as i got it on the truck i had to go haul water to fill my g/f's pool so i didnt really get to mess with it a whole lot right away. well i decided i liked it alot better than my old gauges and i hadnt got to drop the hammer yet because i was haulin 1000 gallons of water. once i dropped the trailer i turned the edge up to setting 5 and got into it, and the truck pulled pretty good until it started missing like a gas motor. first i thought i wasnt gettin enough fuel but i checked the records on the attitude and it said the lowest fuel pressure so far was 14psi. so i backed it down to setting 4, then 3, then down to stock. it runs fine until i hammer it and it gets spooled up. as soon as the boost comes on just misses like crazy. the higher the setting the worse it does it. Les from scheid diesel told me a while ago that my next upgrade should be bigger injector lines and tubes. am i tryin to push too much fuel through too small of lines? or do i have other problems? also do i need an A.D.D. or is that what i plugged into the MAS that came with the edge? and what is the deal with the boost elbow i replaced on the turbo that came with the edge(what is the purpose)? sorry so many questions in here but im lost

If you have 150HP injectors now that shouldn't be the problem. Have you checked for a boost leak? What boost is the EDGE showing? With a 1998.5 24V it is possible that just due to the age that you a old intercooler boot or something of that sort that could be causing this issue.

Stock turbo and housing still - nope I see you have the HTT. What about testing your fuel pump - ya, I know you say that the EDGE is showing 14 psi but this is a computer telling you this. Hook the manual gauge back up and set the unit to level 5 and mash it. I'd be curious to see what it does - it should drop like a rock if there were a problem.

So, short story it is either boost or fuel.

i forgot to say in my first post, that when installing the edge i also had my fass pump rebuilt because i was having issues with it so the fass is practically brand new(by the way, dan at dieselpp is a really cool guy about everything). ive got the edge limited to 40psi boost and it is hittin about 43 or so at full throttle. i checked everything for boost leaks just before i started to install the edge so i dont really think i have any boost leaks and i think 40psi of boost i shouldnt be havin any issues with it missing from the boost but i will try turning the boost down once and see if it misses more. im guessing that would tell me if its a boost issue.

Leave it all in there and just confirm your EDGE FP rating with a manual gauge on the VP44. Otherwise, I'm about as lost as you are now.

Sorry.

Wow I am lost too. I read thies this morning and wondered all day about it. I wouldnt think you would need bigger lines and tubes yet. Did you get a chance to check really good for a boost leak yet? Maybe you got a bad box. You may send it back in and have it reflashed. I have heard of a couple guys getting a brand new one and having to send it right back, but I think they were all comps.

Well lets see how old is that IP pump? I know when the dagphram is damaged they will miss in the higher RPMS under load becuase it can not adjust timing the way it needs to. I would have it scanned for codes becuase with what you are saying it sounds like your VP just took a dump.

I agree it sounds like either a IP problem or you got a bad Edge........

alright i work on the weekends and my internet hasnt been working so sorry i havent been back on here but thanks for the replies. since im not working tomorrow i will be givin the truck the serious test for boost leaks and is there any way to test the fass pump on any of the extra ports on the pump(like on the box that the filters screw onto)? and my injection pump prolly has about 20 to 30k miles on it. i pulled at our fairgrounds saturday night and talked to a guy with a sweet 12v that ended up winning, and he said that he thought their were "check valves" on the injector lines on a 24v and i should check those out? had my lines off a few times and never seen or heard of anything like that. i was also wondering if maybe that is what the edge acts like when it is backing the fuel down if i am hitting my peak boost setting? so tomorrow i will also turn the peak boost setting down and see if it starts cutting out/missing at a lower boost level. basically any ideas would be great but i will post what i figure out tomorrow as long as my internet is still working correctly.

I would guess that the max boost setting on the Edge is messing with you. Dis arm it and limit your boost with the wastegate. You should be able to adjust the WG to hold your boost at 40. I would assume the gate is currently set for 45. I think the missing you are hearing may be the edge pulling the fuel out to keep the boost down, then adding it back in when the boost is back down.

my wastegate on my turbo came set at 40 psi, but does that little boost elbow that came with the edge "trick" the wastegate by limiting the amount of air pressure that goes to it? because i noticed it has a much smaller passage through it when i installed it. should i put my old boost elbow on if i want to shut the limit off on the edge?
