I would go with some sort of box, comp, adrenaline, juice etc... good clutch, fuel system or lift pump, a pyrometer and fuel pressure gauge!

And isf you reall want to tow good, soemthing like a 62/65/14 s300 from a Industrial or HTT and some 80-125hp sticks

Air is the big part. to move it in and out. I hit about 22k and needed more air esp when i hit the rockeys it killed me but at sea level it was not to bad. With stock turbo a couple days ago i hit 1300 deg without a load, i said OH ****. Then looked at the turbo and there it was limp.

I would thank about trading up to a new one. That way you will get more HP and a exhaust brake and you will have a new truck to boot. Now is time to up date. Why spend all that money on an older truck?

I myself wouldn't get the newer one. I don't want to have to deal with the dpf etc, the price of a newer truck compared to what he has you can do a whole lot of upgrades for the price of a new/newer truck. The mileage is also better on the older ones

If he gets a new one I'd go with a 03-07 5.9 CR

I would say Edge Juce W/Attitude, FASS or AirDog, CAI, 4+" TB exhaust, would be a great start.
