Say no to Cooling Mist

Had a problem with the water meth system I installed on my truck a couple of months ago on Friday right before we got ready to to go the dunes. The check valve stuck open and let the water meth drain inot my engine over night :argh: and it was hydro locked first thing in the morning:booo:. Lucky I recognized the hydro lock right away and pulled my intake off and vacuumed it out and turned the engine over by hand a dozen times to try and get the rest of the water meth out. got the engine running again and was off to play at Amargosa dunes. But before that I had placed a call to Cooling mist where I purchased the water meth kit and talk about a bunch of crap. Why is it some salespeople think that all people who buy aftermarket stuff for there trucks are dumb and uneducated in the diesel world. I know that not all of us on here are diesel mechiancs but I am, and for this a hole to tell me that it is impossible for his kit to do this is just ignorant. First off anything that is mechanical or electrical will fail at some piont in time. In my case it was just two short months. So long story short I am here to spread the word about this d head and go on with life and try to make some business that would have went his way go in the other direction.:gunner::fu1::asshat:

wasn't a half ass install but then again that is the way some of the vendors treat people so they don't have to warranty their junk.

not to hijack the thread, but the folks at BD have never been anything but extremely helpful and nice on the phone. I havent heard anything bad about snow, but havent heard anything either way about your brand yank

Its too bad you only show one side of the story. You were very upset about the issue when you called. you would not let me get a word in edgewise. You continually yelled, called me names, told me my product is junk and threatened me. I do my best for every customer but its difficult to be helpful when every other word out of your mouth from the first one I cant even repeat on this forum.

I wanted to work with with from the begining but you would have nothing of it. In the end I shipped you a new checkvalve and you never bothered to even send the "defective" on back.

I wish you luck with your truck, I realize you were just mad about your situation...however I would appreciate not taking it out on me in the future. I want to take care of my customers as I said, but its difficult when you will not let me.

anyway, if you have any other issues and need help dont hesitate to call us.

thats putting it into perspective

Cooling Mist is the only company pushing the technological envelope with their product, supplies clearly superior electronics, the best prices, and their tech support is second to none. I've never gone longer than a couple hours without a helpful, and lucid, email.

How does a check valve go bad and hydrolock the engine? My system has a pump and solenoid in between the reservoir and the intake; they'd both have to leak to get any substantial water into the engine. I also have the lines running up to get to the intake, so gravity would prevent any drainage into the engine at rest even if there was no check valve.

On your system I take it that the tubing running into the intake is all above the intake, and the water in between the solenoid and check valve was sufficient to hydrolock the engine? I don't see how this can happen without the installation being questionable.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Cooling Mist and nobody else even has anything I'd consider buying. (Although Cooling Mist does need to spend some more capital into making their software better.)
