no smarty gives you that on a VP 44 truck, on the common rails 2003 and newer, it does but if you want that, you need to get you either the edge juice with attitude, tst powermax or even the quadzilla adrenaline, for simple on the fly, i reccomend the juice with attitude or the TST powermax 3, TST Products, Inc. mark, the owner and lead engineer retired from cummins back in the late 90s after having helped design the 12 v and 24 v dodge cummins motors, he was one of the first aftermarket companies to really work the old p-pumps and then was one of the first to put electronic tuners out there and his stuff is the top of the line in terms of reliability and quality, power, customer service is number one as well.

If you already have gauges, find yourself a used edge comp box. They are the same programming as the juice w/a, just no gauges. They are tried and true, and usually not that hard to find. Injectors would be a nice addition too, but with a box like the edge, you can turn it down and adjust it for towing fuel economy etc... The comp box is very adjustable as well, there are 5 different levels and each has 5 sub levels as well, (also referred to as smoke levels) These affect how the truck fuels based on boost. Like I said, they are a tried and true great product.
Not that the others aren't great, but you can pretty much guarantee that you will be happy with it.

I use my truck for a daily commuter and I see fuel mileage in the 20's all the time, even in winter. I really like the Edge Comp box, I set it at 3, the sub-level at three, and leave it there. If I really want to move--traffic situation, I reach over and turn it all the way up. I saw a 2mpg gain when I put the box on.
As for the high idle feature, have a dealer enable it, it takes the latest and greatest flash from Dodge, and flipping a few switches in the computer. Then search "high Idle" on the forum and build the IAT/ECT cheater switch, works like a dream. The flash costs about $100.00 if you don't have the latest software and less than $50 if they just have to enable it.
