If your runnin the stock pump still they will hold pressure intermittently when they are just going bad, you just can't count on em to keep that pressure. So ya it's common to have that happen until one day it will just die for good.
Just curious though as to where your pressure guage is, can you see it the whole time your driving. If not then you need to make it so you can. I have had pumps hold 20 psi while I was sittin in one spot but take it on the road and hit the go pedal and they go right to 0.

The original diesel belt drive is the RASP by DTT. But all the pumps have the same issue, they wear in the front bushing causing leaks eventually. This is why I did not go that way. I have seen a much better design, but it just has not seen the light of day yet.
I am running a 12V mechanical pump, but any setup that requires or could require the use of 2 pumps seems silly to me. Why buy an aftermarket pump if you have to rely on the stocker for any use??
Just my thoughts.

DDT was doing the marketing for Opie, but Opie has since started his own site and is selling them through it. I tried to buy the pump through DDT but he was impossible to get a hold of, that's how I ended up with the pump from Rich. Would have rather bought the real one but had to have one to get the truck rollin again and time wasn't allowing me to wait for the other.

Ok guys I changed my Fuel filter today and that seemed to help a little. I think the old filter was clogged. I still have 7psi, it just doesn't dip as much.
I got ahold of Opie @ Intelligent Engineering. I told him I'm having a hard time finding somewhere that stock the Mitusa pump. He said that a lot of places don't stock them as there isn't much profit in them. I'm waiting on a reply but hopefully i'll be able to pick one up from him.
