The cover is by far the cleanest, longest lasting and most dependable way to tap the pump wire you can get. It's just a plastic type cover that replaces the black cover over the electronics on the VP. It has a screw that goes through it in just the right spot to tap the electronics, this is where you attach your wire from the Juice Module. I got mine from Blue Chip Diesel but there are a few other places that have them also. If you spent all that money on a module, don't cheap out on the last $30 though it is money well spent.

No you don't need one, but they are handy to have.

Several places make Attitued mounts; Autometer, Pro Pods, Gauge Works are a few

Personally, I think its the only way to pierce the wire. Is it necessary, no, but it is much cleaner and much easier. No unit gets installed in my shop without a Pump cover. Every Juice and PowerMax I send out includes a cover, cause I have seen too many messed up wire taps happen. I think the cover the best thing to happen to the 24v.
