Default Home brew Twin turbo setup questions

First off, i'm fairly new to the site, i have one posting in the WTB section and that's it !

I have a 2001 Ram2500 5.9 CTD, Automagic Transmissionl.

I bought it allready somewhat modded, And around now, the gears are starting to turn in my head with some twin turbo ideas. But i have no idea where to start.

First question : How do you get the turbo to mount " High " like they have ?

2 : What turbo should i be using as the second turbo if i allready have a " Super B " turbo

3 : Do i have a super B turbo ? It says " Schwitzer " On it, and it's got the blue hose,

4. Which turbo do I put where ? Super be first or second ?

5. Fuel needs / Injectors. ( Any luck with the Edge Jammers ? )

6. Port & Polishing gain on 2nd gen 24V heads ? or 3rd gen head swap ? with P&P ?

7. Programers !!!

8. VP44 upgrades or CP3 swap

9. NOS / Water Meth injection And intercooler

10. Head studs VS. Grade 12 Bolts

11. Change of shorts for when this thing leaves me more than speechless.

ANY info i can get on any of this would be AWSOME !! and maybe some links to some WTS stuff would be sweet too if any one has any thing of the sort.

I don't accutaly have a " Figure " i'm looking for, i'm looking to build and build on this setup over the next year or two, maybe if i have to find spares of all to build with, then do one big swap-over. All i'm looking for is more or less cheap / Home brewed setups

Thanks SO MUCH !

Nick

well first off you flip the exhaust manifold upside down to get the turbo higher
2. Im not real sure, maybe a something like S480??
3. probably do its an S300 most likey which is a super b (im almost 100% sure)
4. super b first then a bigger one
5. some type of injector upgrade would be a plus, and a good lift pump ie:Airdog, or FASS
6. really not necessary but to each is own, the 3rd gen swap is nice
7. Edge Juice or Quadzilla Adrenaline...once again i say a good lift pump
8. Nah, a standard output VP44 is fine (a CP3 is the pump on the 3rd gen)
9. Depends on what your EGT's are at
10. ARP Headstuds no doubt about it
11. definately will be needed

Some good guages is a must and transmission upgrades wether it be a good clutch or built auto

I would have never guessed that you could flip the Manifold over.

I do have a Fass pump on there allready (Previous owner) Not sure which one though

I would guess a T3-T4 combo / hybrid would be to small for so much " Flow " ??

What does BD's " Twin " kit consist of ? Isn't it just 2 S300s ?
Any pro's to the 3rd gen head swap ?

What about turbo Drain and Fill ( I thought i saw a second pressure port on the oil filter housing, Correct ? ) And turbo to turbo down pipe, turbo weight support ?

The second turbo would have the exhaust hooked up to it right ? What would you need to use for DP and such ?

What's the Difference in Head studs VS. Grade 12 bolts ? / Could i get some studs from a bolt vendor ? Or is ARP really the only way to go ? ( I just can't justify spending nearly $700 on what .. 16 studs ? )

The previous owner decked it out with Gauges, ( AT-temp, Boost, Pyro [Auto meter] And a DiPricol Fuel pressure gauge, which is another question, is there any way to fix this thing from the HORRIBLE rattle it has ? )

Thanks again !

im not really an expert on the exact set up it require to run twins, there is few guys on here that run em and hopefully they will chime in with their knowledge,

and yes headstuds are the way to go, ive never heard of guys running grade 12 bolts, i thought the arp head bolts were only around $400

studs are in the $400 range, the rattle would be fixed by using a needle valve to dampen the amount of fuel going to the gauge, what trans work has been done so far? what programmer do you have on it now? I am pretty sure you could just order piping and a bottom turbo kit and save yourself the pains of making it all work.

What kind of HP are you looking to get out of your setup?

I don't actually have a pre-set Looking for HP number, i just want to tinker with some things, and see where i land,

I'm trying to make a weekend warrior / Massive tow rig.

I don't tow much at all really, just muh' little Jeep and trailer (7000 Lb combo ? ) Or my boat, 2000 pounds total.

I plan on heading over the passes once in a while, ( Seattle to Spokane ) and just want something that i won't ever second guess speed and ready power.

Where are these " Bottom " Kits that you speak of ? I can't find any one that sells them.

I am not running any programmer for right now, but i'm looking into buying one sometime soon, which is why i was looking for info on some, I've heard a Ton of Pros and Con's about all of them, and i just don't want to spend 600 $ on something i am going to hate.

The only thing i have right now in my truck is the BD boost fooler. Which i took back out cause it ate at least 150 miles right out of my tank.

As far as transwork, I have no idea, it's got a Mag-hy-tec Pan on it, and that's all i can see.

I've hade no contact with the previous owner cause i bought it from a dealership,

The Fuel pressure gauge has one of them " Isolators " Which i've read are prone to fail. So naturally i assume mine has failed. I'd love some more info on " The Fix "

What about just running my S300 and a " Special" S300 from BD

Stick with small on the top turbo. If your top turbo is stock it ought to be a hy which spools instantly. I just replaced a hy35 with a he351 and 3b. Its the perfect towing setup for me. With 125 horse injectors and adrenaline with pulse I run the 2000 tune and number 4 or 5 setting. On these settings it tops out at 55 lbs of boost. Probably not the fastest truck around but it runs good enough for me.

ATS does make a bottom twin kit(aka the secondary kit), it uses either the auroa 4000 or 5000 series turbo. now im not a fan of ATS, just happened to see one on display a while back. its designed to work off of any single turbo in the stock location.
