Default Buying New Cummins Newbie Need Help With Upgrades

Hi everybody im new to this forum and the world of being a cummins owner. I will soon be buying either a 99 or 2000 4x4 2500 24v manual cummins as these are my 2 favorite years. i plan on taking enough out on the loan to put on an edge juice with attitude monitor, 5 or 6 inch dual grand rock stacks turbo back kit and 33 inch tires. is there anything else i should upgrade to keep from tearing anything up? also is there any others ways i can add power for cheap. oh and i aint worried about mpg i just want power and lots of smoke.

check it for the 53 block, if i remember correctly look on the passenger side of the block for a stamped '53' right around where the block meets the oil pan.

You might want to look into a clutch to, chances are the juice is gonna make short work of your stock clutch.

PS if you want some good smoke get some 90-150 HP injectors for it too, but PLEASE for the love of our hobby here be responsible when "smoking" dont smoke out the doors to wal-mart and dumb like that. Do it on back roads or when you know it is ok. Dont draw unwanted attention to us they(Government) is already watching us hard core dont give them ammobut have fun bud just givin ya something to think about

thats good to hear, you should be good to go then. you could maybe get something like a exhaust manifold or something like that, the stocks ones have a tendency to get hairline fractures on the bottom of them

sounds like a good plan, make sure you do a fuel system with the juice or the vp will be dead quick. in order of mods for these it's a fuel system then gauges or a programmer with them that does fuel pressure. but you have the right idea and a clutch will be needed soon too. injectors are one of the best upgrades you can do.

Sumbitch i had a brain fart, disregard the manifold...get an Airdog or Fass fuel system hands down the most important investment you'll make and make sure you hook up your fuel pressure sender when installing the Juice

I was wonder what that smell was... haha
Deffinetly get either an Airdog or Fass, the stock lift pumps on these great truck is the achillees heel... also if you dont have the $$ to get the juice with attitude, you could get an edge ez.. that is another good chip good for about 60 hp.
once you get a chip in there and start feeling the power ...it more of an addiction than a hobby, you WILL get hooked!
