Default How Much HP/TQ Can My 5 Speed Handle?

can you over do how much power a standard transmission? is there too much? Do you think it's strange to have rear disc brakes in a '01 2500?

The hard parts of the NV4500-HD will take a fair amount of hp and torque but (obviously) youre clutch will begin to slip after adding big HP. How much are you looking to add?

Rear disks first appeared in model year 2001 (2001.5 to be exact).

In the stock version if you hit 500hp with the NV4500 you've been lucky. With some improvements to upgrade parts, mostly the mainshaft, 600hp hasn't been any problem. Anything over that and your takin chances though. It's been done you just have to be willin to call the wrecker when your luck runs out.

one of my buddys is making 508hp on his 5 speed 01 dodge and the only problem was the clutch. he was smoking his con fe and the only way to go to a bigger clutch is to go dual disk which requires the 6speed input shaft upgrade.....from there i dont know what the next weak link will be but i'm sure there is one and i'm sure we will find out

im putting over 450 hp to the ground with my 5 speed, dual disc southbend clutch and ive ran it like that for over 100k and not had any problems, course driver input will also make a difference, if you shock load or torque load it every time you shift, then itll blow up faster then if you are smooth on it. i know a local guy thats gone through 6 of them simply cause he shifts really early without letting off the pedal and it bucks the tranny like crazy, he does it just to smoke more

Some of our sponsor's sell them. If you want to post a thread in the price quote section they will send you prices. Peter at South Bend himslef is also a sponsor here and he selss direct if you want to call him. He could also help on which one would be right for you and your truck. He's a wealth of info when you talk to him.

I bought mine through Gus at Farmboysdiesel.com I don't know if I saved any money as I made a big order at 1 time.. But the customer service was fantastic.. I have the CON-FE in my truck.. They said it was not good for towing but I have not had a problem yet... Been almost a year now..

mine was put in through daves diesel in munice, indiana. the cost vary with which clucth and pressure plate you get, for a single disc, a little better then stock clutch, might set you back between 600-1000 dollars as where the clutch ive got set me back 1850 installed.
