Hey there first post and just joined last night so sorry if this has already been put up but. I need a new tranny for my 2001 3500 cummins 4x4. Mine had over 450.000 on her (vary happy with that to be honest ) and she finally blew up the other day going down the highway.
I've talked to a few mechanic shops in town that told me that a new 6 speed manual (same stock one I have in it now) would cost around $2500 Cnd . I found a lot down in the states for only around $700 US . But I don't want to have to pay some crazy shipping price plus duties. are there any places in Canada to order a new tranny for a decent price?

Don't know a whole lot about transmissions only that when its a dodge to go manual . as far as I know its a 6-speed NV5600 manual trans but correct me if I'm wrong.

Another thing I was thinking was taking my old trans apart and seeing if it is as bad as it seems. I mean its bad enough that I cant put it into any gears and when I was driving there was smoke and grinding so I'm sure its pouched but would a rebuild be cheaper?
