how do you get the darn shift **** OFF????? Mine on my 04.5, the gear pattern is upside down and i was trying to get it turned around right so my GF can see the shift pattern without having to look upside down... i have tried turning it, but it seems pretty secured on there... is there a trick to getting it to move?????

You shouldnt need to take the **** off.
Im not sure about the third gens but on the second gens - if you take a couple of very small screwdrivers and gently pry out the **** pattern (its just a cover), you can reposition it where it needs to be (also use some sort of glue so it doesnt move again).
There should be a nut under the shift pattern that holds the **** to the stick.
