Default Black Smoke and mpg

Just installed the XZT zillraider this morning and will be installing the recon to monitor boost, egt and fuel press this weekend.
Have to say, the extra power is nice. Turned it on to the second level, opened it up, felt great. What a kick in the pants. Looked in the rear view mirror and saw a big puff of black smoke.
This would be un-burned fuel/wasted energy?
I already have a BHAF w/shield but should I be looking at a different intake to supply more air?

Side question
I installed the chip to increase the mpg, what level should I keep it in? My commute is in moderate to heavy traffic and during the weekend I am either on the freeway (60-70 mph) or in the mountains.

I don't see anything in your sig about increased fuel supply, as in high pressure fuel pump and bigger lines. Without this you Injector pump will be short lived with all that extra power. The stock system is only barely enough to supply the needs of the stock HP. And yes you are right, black smoke looks cool but is wasted fuel. Your BHAF should supply plenty of air, it's just the nature of the beast when you turn these things up they smoke.

Every truck seems to have it's own settings that suit it best, myself I have the Comp Edge and the most fuel savings I see are when it's turned off. I have tested that a number of times.

I am looking into the glacier/walboro or BD fuel pump (next on the list upgrades).

Can somebody give the pro and cons regarding each pump, besides the $100 difference in price?

Regarding the chip, I purchased the chip to improve the mpg. After reading all the post from people who keep there foot in control, their mpg has improved. I hope this is true for my truck.

No - it is a full replacement for the POS stock lift pump .....(unless you have a replacement intank lift pump - that requires a few extra parts to work around).

My lift pump is located on the side of the motor so the wideopendiesel kit will work.

Newbe question
There is only one lift pump, either in tank or engine mounted?

Hey Doc

Do you have an opinion regarding the quadzilla chip and the setting I should use to max mileage?

OK.....the stock location is on the side of the engine....DC relocated the pump inside the tank to try to "fix" the problems with it....didnt work. The Walbro pump is supposed to be very good. Will work fine for you, I think.
