Laugh summer cummins build

hey everyone, just looking for a bit of input on the summer project. basically im parking the truck in two weeks and pulling the motor. im re-doing everything. fuel system, internals, head, machining the block, intake, cooling system etc..not sure about a turbo yet but definitely an exhaust. just curious what input you all might have as far as manufacturers you all like and dislike. im not new when it comes to diesels, this is just a stock 99 24v 4x4 that is getting a few lives put back into it. and yes for those of you that are wondering, im planning for power as well as longevity. i appreciate everyones input in advance. thanks.

Dan.

What is your power goal here, and why are you pulling the motor?

You know you can run up to 850+hp on stock internals right?

The cummins is the most overbuilt motor out there. connecting rods are massive compared to a powerstroke or duramax's rods, the mains are all linked together in a giant cage. bottom ends of these engines are ridiculously strong.

the weakness of the engine is the valve train. stock valve springs don't have enough pressure to pull the valves closed fast enough or hold the valves closed for overrev, quick acceleration, or high boost.

upgrade the valve springs and push rods and that problem is solved. then cylinder pressure can be an issue which replacing head bolts with head studs will solve. (to help prevent blowing a head gasket from more timing, more fuel and more boost)

why do you need to mess with the cooling system? it is already overkill for these motors...

my truck is 576hp/1285tq @ the rear wheels and I have a stock cooling system, stock bottom end, stock head, stock rotating assembly. upgraded valve springs and push rods, head studs, bigger injectors and compound twins with some other supporting mods.

haven't touched the inside of my engine other than springs, push rods, injectors, and head studs.

truck is a daily driver, and very reliable.
