Default Looking to make some cummins power. 1999 Possible sled truck

I won the genesee county tug of war 3/4 ton and 1 ton with this truck which has inspired me to try and make a sled truck, it's nothing crazy just a programmer, 125hp injected nozzles and an intake. I would like to get into sled pulling. What other stuff should I do. I've been looking at the airdog systems so far other than that I'm clueless?

Thanks for any help and suggestions

skip airdog and go with a fass titanium 150...

get gauges on there...

what kind of trans?

with either auto or manual, be sure to get SFI certified parts for sled pulling.

upgraded valve train is also a good idea. definitely stick to single turbo if you want to stay in a competitive class...twins will put you in a class that only very deep pockets can compete in..

Thank you
It has an auto trans it's newer but not built.
I was planning on having one built or put a manual in what would you suggest?
I'm gonna put gauges in it before I go any further egt, boost, fuel pressure, trans temp
What about the drive train different axels? Gears etc?

Boost elbow? Or down pipe?

you first need to decide what class you want to compete in...that will dictate what you can/can't do to your truck...

if you choose work/stock, you can only have the stock turbo, if stock muffler is missing, you gotta put a couple 3/8" bolts through your exhaust in a cross pattern to simulate stock muffler/cat restriction...

a stack or stacks are REQUIRED for sled pulling. (exhaust must exit vertical and exit post cab per sled pulling rules for that class hood stacks are prohibited for this class.)

axles trans and transfer case must be of stock make...but not limited to truck they came out of...so you can put 1 ton axles on it and any trans and xfer case that came out of a 1 ton dodge.

therefor I would get a built 47RE, make sure you have a NP241DHD xfer case, and dana60/dana80 front and rears + limited slip in the rear and possibly a locker in the front.

get the grabbiest tires you can find that are street legal.

now for turbos...I wonder if you can get away with running a VGT on there? it is of stock make you would have to verify in the rules about that, cause if you can I would run a HE351VE on there with either a fleese controller, or a mechanical gate adapter to actuate the vanes. (both are available aftermarket to retrofit a VGT on older trucks) then you will want to step up injectors and get a wiretap fueling box...

the truck needs to appear like it has a stock engine...doesn't mean you can't build it up as much as possible internally.

these recommendations are based off of the work/stock class, not the work/stock 2.5 class or anything like that where non oem specific turbos, transmissions, and counter weights are allowed....

basic work/stock is only mildly modified trucks, the only trucks allowed to run twins in this class are 6.4 powerchokes cause they came stock with twins. but no aftermarket injection pumps are allowed. means all the common rails are just as limited as the vp trucks... and in that case a VP44 truck CAN make /exceed common rail power if the common rail is not allowed to upgrade their cp3 pump. but once they get into the 2.5 class, forget about it aftermarket injection pumps are allowed there...

i highly recommend head studs with with a HE351VE, if you run one without a wastegate with your 125 sticks im very confident it can push 50 psi, please correct me if im wrong

hell I would run 7x.010s at least.

and HE351VE doesn't have a wastegate. just has vanes inside to limit or increase flow across the turbine.

and yes head studs are ALWAYS a good idea
