Default my truck wont accept a programmer? !

I recently purchased a 99 24v. Well my buddy had a superchips programmer that I wanted to try out. We plugged it into the obd2 port. The programmer would light up and go through all the motions and in the end would say either vehicle is a stock settings or say no vin. Any ideas?

what year of truck did the superchips come off of???? ceetain modules are for certain years and so on you could always run the superchip product number on google or something and see what years it will fit

Once I plug it in all it says is start with ignition off. Then im guessing it reads the truck and says turn ignition on. Then ask if I would like to program the truck and I click on yes. Then it'll start reading. Then it pops up with truck is stock umplug programmer or no vin

Does it say no vin or locked vin???? If it says locked vin then you need to put it back on your buddies truck and put his truck back to the stock settings in his truck then you can try it again in your truck... The reason being that once you've used it on one truck it's locked to that truck until you turn it back to the stock settings there for not being able to install on your truck
