Default TC flex plate and input shaft

If I buy a triple disk from goerand or who ever and I install it will it snap my input shaft and flex plate? People have been telling me it will. Want to get more opinions. I do NOT tow alot and I am very mindful of the trans when I drive.

If you are mindful, you will be fine. Inputs and Flex plates typically break under high power shifts.

I still have a stock flex plate, and a triple disc converter. No problems with the flex plate yet. I do have a billet input though.

I've been in contact with most aftermarket trans companies lately (goerand, Suncoast, ATS, etc). Doing some research before I upgrade my trans (hopefully in the spring). Most recommend and agree that you don't need either the flex plate or a billet input unless you either drive pretty hard and / or are pushing over 500 rear wheel hp. I don't know...that's what they are tellin me. As an approximate price - most are charging an additonal 750 for the billet input and 350 for the flex plate. HTH. Chris

billet input is a very good idea with a triple disc converter as they put a little more strain on a stock shaft and if you run a lock up switch it will snap it pretty quick. a stock flex plate goes a long way. the 500hp mark is usually when you need an output shaft because they go snap on a good boosted launch.... been there done that
