Default New mods? Any Suggestions?

Hello there fellas! First off i would like to just say you all have been a big help to me when i sneak around here as a visitor and such. Although, i do have a few questions for you guys if maybe you vets could give me some direction (im normally pretty engine and car savvy but this is not my element yet). My truck as you see in my sig is relatively new to me and i bought it with most of the upgrades except the AD II and the gentleman that had it before me told me there was a mild smarty tune on the truck (which will be removed and replaced with another tuner) along with the 125 HP injectors... Well, pretty much im picking up where he left off... no this truck does not have gauges yet and the airdog was just put in i plan on going with the adrenaline pulse VT2 tuner soon to get all the gauges and such (i really dont tow with her or hot rod her either just light things that a half ton can do for right now till shes ready) but mainly im looking for advice on making sure this is not gonna end up giving me headaches down the road (i.e. head gaskets, insane EGT issues, loss of effective power, ect) id rather get her built strong to handle it before i have bigger issues so any help and advice on making her solid on mechanical work or even other upgrades other then the obvious guages that will hopelly have soon would be much appreciated!!

(kinda looking to make her a nice all around truck do alittle of everything but mainly just beat the shorts off my best buddy's precious 6.0 im just making sure im not gonna be wasting money on things that are gonna hurt her or even just drown her with still having the HX35 on her and throwin too much fuel.... but im not looking to go with an aftermarket turbo yet unless it is suggested)

Thanks!

Welcome. Glad to see a fellow ohioan. I know you said it but I wouldn't even drive the truck without gauges with those injectors and pump, personally. Good luck with your truck their awesome

With the injectors and quadzilla (when you get it) your egts will start being highish when towing and hot rodding (my 100hp sticks and a comp box will get me to 1400*). First off I would do as stated before, your guages. They improve reliability by allowing you to monitor your trucks "health" so to speak. Then I would say head studs and turbo. With the quad and injectors you will have plenty enough fuel so next thing is air and stock turbo will do okay for daily driving with this setup but you could lower egt's, clear smoke and build more power from a bigger turbo. This is just my two cents, hope it will help.

Your on the right track getting gauges in so you can watch what is going on. Once the gauges are in, you will be able to see what your truck needs.

You say there is a Smarty tune in the truck, did you get the Smarty? It's loose-loose if you didn't. You'll need a dealership to flash the ECU to stock if you can't pull the smarty tune out with the smarty that put it in. Plus, the Smarty that put the tune in will be VIN locked, and useless to whoever has it.

HX35/40 is a relatively cheap upgrade to get some more air flowing.

Just another question for you guys here.... once i get the gauges in should i be lookin into a boost fooler? or would the quad take care of that? Also, i hear alot of people talking about these boost elbows, which i have no clue what they are talkin about but mainly askin for just a checklist of the simple things i should have done.

Thanks again!

Hey again fella's! Sorry to bring this old thing back up but im looking into programmers and i was gonna go with the quad but now that they shut down, i can't LOL The main question i have here is i had a friend of a friend that has a cummins puller called "Resurrected Ram" (maybe you heard of the truck) said TST products are pretty powerfull aswell and from what i can tell the best the offer is the TST PM3 but i also hear of this TST COMP? i cant seem to find it... But just asking if the TST would be a good choice and if not ill do the EJWA... im just looking for whats gonna give me the most power and can be used best later on down the road when power really gets up there!

Thanks again for all the help guys!

Never heard of a TST Comp, but I have heard of an Edge Comp. They are a fuel/timing box only, no monitor. Lots of power, no features though.
