Well i'm new to diesels and the website. and i was just wonting some advice on which direction to go. ill start with this. one of my very good friends is selling his truck in a couple of weeks and said i had first dibs..!!!!! its an 2001 cummins 2500 thats been VERY well kept up. the only problem is...... i'm his mechanic...... he has had all fluids changed on schedule...... but the last filter and trans fluid change i did i found a piece of a snap ring that was about 1.5 in long and and 1/3 inch wide in the transmission pan ... also the truck has about 210000 miles. so this is the start of the 600hp tread.. would this be a good truck to start with. i know the transmission will need to be rebuilt/beefed up, no big deal. but is that to many miles on one of these to put 600hp under the hood if not what would be the best way to achieve that goal. and still have a safe daily driver?

 

Miles don't really matter on these amazing engines. A 53 block on the other hand. Sometimes they can't handle stock power. Check into that before making HP goals. If it isn't a 53, 600HP is obtainable.
