Prepping my engine for big mods, i got questions guys!
Aight so the truck in my signature has got quite a bit of power but im starting to make more money now and want more power. My ultimate goal is twin turbos but i know i have alot to do before that.
Im fixing to have studs and a head gasket put on er. She still has the stock turbo on it, and i have a buddy who just blew his hx35 on his 99 24v when it hit 42lbs of boost, so i try to to go above 35lbs on mine just to be safe until i get a more worthy turbo. Ive been looking into the twin systems and i like the ats 5000/3000 setup. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? What i may do i just buy the 3000 by itself at first and then when i get more money get the 5000 add on set up. Any one have recommendations/advice for twin setups?
Id also like to know what else to do to prep the engine for the HP these turbos will give me. I was told to get a fass fuel system. But when i looked at em online, there was so many setups and different things that came up, that it confused me on what i should buy. Lol. What should i buy? A link to the specific item may help. Ive heard of people doing away with the factory fuel filter when the do the fass system also.
I know my way around the engine pretty well for a 16 year old. But theres some stuff with these mods that confused me at first until i get someone tO explain it to me. Ive done all the mods on it myself up until now and want to do as much on my own as i can but i know when to say when something is too much for me.

ok by looks of it ur on the right track, but u still have some work to do before u even think of putting a bigger turbo then factory on ur rig, first the head u need to get studs and head gasket now with that u can get a marine head gasket like i did or u can have ur head o ringed or fire ringed, o ring is best but i did just a .20 marine head gasket with arp head studs and im running 60lbs on a single d tech 64 turbo, thats my little guy to my compound, now idk much about ats but look into diesel power source they have good turbos and thats what im running, they even just came out with a triple turbo set up. but get that head work done, get ur afc tuned maybe bump ur timing alittle and some gsk 3 or 4 k (engine gov springs for injection pump), as for fass system i dont have one yet so some one else can chime in but i dont believe u need one unless u go with bigger injectors then what u have, but u will get guys to let u know with that, GET THAT HEAD DONE FIRST

If you plan on going with twins I would suggest the either the Titanium series part number T D10 220G or the Heavy Duty series part number HD D10 220G. Both of these pumps flow 220gph@45psi and should support the hp you want to make. The biggest difference between the two is the HD series is physically bigger than the Titanium series. I have a 95 with the 3k/5k kit, and I like em. Starts making boost just cruising down the freeway, and pulls hard through the rpm band. Wastegated at 57psi of boost. At 450-ish to the wheels, I can stay in it at full throttle for 20-30 seconds and only hit 1,400 on the pyro. In my 89, I can hit 1,400 in second gear

I got a buddy of mine who has a 94 reg cab just like yours except with stacks, and he runs a HX55 and hits 40-45 lbs of boost easy. And its good you can do all of that at such a young age it will save you a ton of money. I was 17 when i bought my first Cummins (the one listed as sold in my sig), Just bought my second diesel my 2007 Dmax and I'm only 21 =).

My only question is will the HX55 fit the stock 5.9 manifold? Ive seen plenty of 55's on craigslist fairly cheap. Does anyone happen to know the boost limits of a 55?

Ok ive read a little bit and from what i hear, a 5.9 will hardly turn the HX55. Its 1050 CFM. The HX40 doesnt look too bad its 760 CFM. Holset as a bunch of turbos and im looking for a little more than 35lbs of boost. I dont do much towing just mostly a bass boat and a little dirt in the bed here and there but thats about it.

The HX40, is known for having to small a shaft and for it to, like its little bro the HX35, to fly apart every which way thats hell, west, and crooked. But a Super HX40 is spouse to be better. I have seen guys do a triplet system using a bunch of HX35/40 hybrids. But they had the center sections upgraded to bigger shafts. I am hoping to do triplets on my setup. I am still trying to figure out what turbo's I wanna use, but I got a plan and I hope it works. Also BD Diesel makes this nice trick piece which could help you spool a split exhaust housing turbo easier. Its called a Turbine direveter valve. I plan on running one, as well as a Steed Speed exhaust manifold, with setup for a wastegate. So I can skip my compressing turbo and put more exhaust gasses to my two atmosphere turbos.
