Did you know 1st gen steering boxes fit 2nd gens?

Yep! You read it right! My brothers 95 dodge was getting a new pitman arm installed, and our mechanic said the previous owner put on a steering box from a junkyard first gen! No wonder that thing was leaking like a siv! It's older than the truck its on! I dont know why I'm so surprised, because everything 1st-2nd gen dodge was complex as a sledge hammer.

Did anyone know they could fit?

There's a lot of things that fit between em. but the steering boxes are not even close to the same. The 1st gen box bolts to the outside of the frame rail a 2nd gen box bolts the inside of the frame rail. The mounting flanges are on the wrong side of the box on one another.

What's really funny is 80-97 F_series pickups and rangers all use the same box too, if it has powersteering.
