Default Looking for REAL EXPERIENCE from ya'll.

I aint a racer by any means and did not get nor built my truck to do so. Its made to tow and haul heavy stuff when needed, for dependability and fuel economy compared to my old '97 sierra. However, I am a curious guy and ran my truck against my buddies '01 cummins with a edge juice with attitude on level 6 and whooped him purdy bad up to bout 90 (which is all i got). Today I had a mid 2000's duramax screw with me untill i got tired of it and ran with him. He was about 3 truck lengths ahead of me when I got another blanket of smoke in which I decided to show him what 2 less cylinders can do. Yes, I whooped him....barely and I mean a babys crawl faster. Here is the thing, I hate being defueled at 2700 rpms. I want ya'lls REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE about 4gsk and how much of a difference in drivability they make. My turbo lights and a second later Im having to grab another gear and for normal drivability...it sucks. Thanks.

well your story is a dirty lie, my geo tracker used to be able to outrun my 95 till i started bombing it. BUT the 4k springs are absolutly the best bang for the buck. they will transform your truck and make you able to run closer to your buddies chipped 24v and the duramax. get them get them get them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, i dont take to being called a lier. Second of all, with my fuel plate and boost elbow being the only mods to my truck, I out ran not only the 01 with the edge juice but the dmax with whatever he had done to it. After 90, i was left in the dust due to that being my top end. My truck aint pushing stock power and with it being a 5 speed with a good clutch in it now, the 01 with the stock auto can NOT keep up till high speeds. Thanks for your input on the springs though.

OK first thing first. 4k AND 60lb valve springs were the best mods i ever did to my 12v. It will take a little time to get usd to driving since the throttle, at least for me, was more touchy. As for a mostly stock 12v out running a Dmax, well my chipped 360 v8 ram outran my old mans stock dmax all the time. Cant say anything about the 24v race since i have never raced one (or rode in one).

I can run with my old mans 04 duramax with diablo sport tuner on 120hp but can beat him. Im not saying you're a lier by any means but I dont think the d max had all of his chips on the table during that run. To answer your question im waiting on my 4k's to get here but have driven trucks with them and they are alot nicer specially with a 5 speed like you are saying it lets you run out each gear further which makes it nicer to drive.

Thank you both for the replys regarding the springs. Im really looking forward to getting a set and I have done my homework on them but wanted actual experience and not hear say. As for the dmax, I have no idea what he has in the truck, i dont know the guy he was just a random dude looking to have fun. The 24v is a bone stock auto with 220k on all factory parts including the tranny. The edge sucks a LOT of fuel and when he has his foot in it, his fuel pressure will drop to between 1 and 2 pounds. Level 6 has dropped it to 0 a few times, according to the monitor. Im sure with a built tranny and fass system to keep his pressure up, it would be a different story. Again, thank you all.

Got mine in yesterday. Forgot about the lower seat beeing a 2 piece seat and put it all back together then when driving it would hit 2k rpm and stay there. Needless to say I had to tear it all down and get the other half of the seat out. Runs like a champ now.

I hate it when something like that happens haha. So basically they allow for full fueling up to 4k instead of 3k right? Cuz i know with the stock springs it starts to defuel around 2500 rpms.

To be honest I have never turned my motor over 3k. Just did them so I would have room to play and plan on doing a couple of backwoods truck pulls when I go back north. Supposed to fuel up to about 3800 then get that feeling of it falling off again. Stockers for a 5 speed was 2500 I believe and 2200-2300 for autos.

Ya I dont want to be running my engine past 3k anyways, but it would be nice to have full power up to it.
