Default would a compound setup help me?

Im wondering what i have for options to help my truck spool faster. It is smokey with no plate but it didnt have it when i bought the truck. When it does get spooled up it makes 40 psi at wide open throttle, and runs good. Its around town that it seems under powered and wont make much boost at all. The boost really comes in at and over 2000 rpm but under that seems to be nothing.
Thanks for any input guys!!

that turbo should spool pretty damn quick with your set-up. my super B is a 65/14 and spools like stock. the comp. wheel is smaller than yours but still. do you have any other symptoms other than laggy?

Is the marine head gasket thicker? Sounds like you might be throwing to much fuel at it from the start which will smother the fire out. The intake wheel being almost as big as the exhaust wheel makes it harder for it to get leverage and start spooling till the volume is there. This is just my guess.

It fires rite up, and sounds great. It just feels slow until it builds boost. It has about 10 pounds at 1800ish to 2000rpm then from there it builds to 40 psi quickly. Do you guys think it would help if I buy a plate to put in it? I'm not sire about the hg thickness. The engine was built when I bought it.

how much smoke does it blow pre boost? if you roll into it slower than -all at once- does it smoke or is it pretty much clear? i would recomend a plate for tuning purposes, many wont i like having more to play with. your timing and cam should have you running pretty damn clean witht that turbo. what size DV's are you running? full cuts by any chance???

Pre boost this thing will block the sun out at noon if you punch it. Even being nice to it taking off trying to keep up with traffic it will smoke like a not real stock truck taking off like a bat outta hell. I drove it form denver co to redwood falls mn on a tank and a half. It runs like a dream down the highway. I think it might be over fueled down low in the rpm range. What plate do you suggest since i would have to buy one either way? I have no idea what size the dv's are. At wide open in fifth gear making 40psi of boost it still doesnt clear up completely, it always has pretty good trail of smoke. Its kind of annoying cuz i cant play with it without fear of gettin stopped for smoking out a whole intersection in town.

P.S. I've never seen my egts above 900 either...food for thought, prolly didnt need to know that...

if you can blot out the sun your EGT's are higher than 900* i get to 1300ish with a heavy haze at WOT... and yes you sound way overfueled. there is a screw on the back of your AFC housing -smoke screw- under a cover. one of the screws is a break off screw. it will proly be easier to pull the housing off to do this. there is a 10mm jam nut and the screw is an allen head. just leave the cover off and play around with it. you will prolly have to back it way out. i really like my #6 plate. ive got a few to play with but like the controlability with what i have done to my truck with the #6.

smoke screw
out = less pre boost fuel
in=more pree boost fuel

also you you have the socket to full one of the DV's out and give it a check to see what it is? takes like 20min.

you will feel it totally loose tension against the afc spring. when it does that just tighten it till you can feel somekind of tension then tighten the jam nut.
