Default Doggy after a super B

This is not on my sig truck, helping a buddy out with his fun truck.

98 12 valve, 4.10 gears, heavy flat bed, 4wd, stock DVs, stock injectors, no plate, star wheel full forward, now a super b special, timing at 17.5 degrees, heads bolts re-torqued.

put a super B on, gauges, re-torqued the head for him, now it seems doggy off the line. yall think its under-fueled or is the timing too far advanced? no GSK and stock fueling system. I played with the starwheel (he had already pulled the plate) and it ran the best with the starwheel cranked. toyed with the idea of doin the afc mods, but he thinks i went too far with the timing.

input?

thanks!

That set up would work well with a regular Super B, but a Super B Special needs more to run it. That is a good timing setting for a real world truck.

That truck is not under fueled for a super b. If its a superb special then yes it is underfueled. A super b is only a 57/65/12 if memory serves me right. A special is a 64/71/14. A super b is not much bigger than a stock charger.
