Default Crazy idea...

I'm new to the diesel industry and I haven't done much to my rig yet but I have played around enough to understand the mechanics of how things work. I have an idea, and I think I can make it work. I'll start simple; An intercooler is in place to cool the air coming from the turbo to the manifold. (Please correct me if I am wrong at any moment) Now my crazy idea has to do with ensuring that the air going through the intercooler is cold. Colder air from the intercooler would mean a lot to performance. They make nitrous kits that spray the intercooler but that's a hassle, and can get expensive. I know that I can add a refrigerator style system to my intercooler. If the air in the intercooler was at -40' F and the air going in from the turbo was, well its really hot. Then it is safe to say that you would have cooler air constantly going into your manifold and you wouldn't have to buy a bottle, well a bottle of R-134a every once and a while. I already have the schematics drawn up to make it work, I just want to know if the juice is worth the squeeze. Thanks for the input gentlemen.

well in the a/c world they would say to make sure that you seal up the unit... if you get caught venting the r-134a you can go to jail for quite a long time.... personally i think you would be better off doing an air-to-water setup before the factory intercooler and put a radiator in the bed with cooling fans ... then when you know you will be running it hard put ice on it... kinda an idea i have been having for a long time and it wouldnt cost a whole hellva lot to do
