Default Port and polish?

Im going to have my head in a machine shop soon to get decked in order to replace my HG. What have you payed to have your heads ported and polished...was it worth it? What are the benefits?

Got a guy where I can exchange my head for a magnafluxed decked oringed with a mild port for 450 bucks.

all it does is smooth the bores out so it flows better, port matching helps a ton too. But I'm in the same boat at the moment, blew the headgasket in the 12v so while its off its gonna get some work.

Thanks I have done alot of checking and it is looking like close to $1500. If thats a legitimate number I am going to have to pass for the time being I can have it decked and oringed with no extra work for $260. Is that a good price for anyone? or is it a freind of a friend kind of a deal? If its good for anyone where is this guy?

Me but its only 50 bucks more and he's in northern Iowa. Its decked, valve job, new valve seals, hot tank, pressure check, o-ring and mild porting for 500 exchanged

But like he said, mild, just knocking the ridges off, the machine shop gave you that qoute was probably gonna go full port and polish with bowl work and maybe back cutting the valves
