Default Fuel plate?

I have a 97 cummins, 5 speed. It was stock when I bought it at 114000 miles. Pretty good find. Anyway, I has straight pipes and an intake. I've adjusted the rule plate but I was wondering for the most power throughout? I was reading about them and I was leading toward a #10 plate then I found out about the #100 plates. My goal is to reach 500 horses. I'm going to order the plate then get the injection pump. I'm looking at going with a 150 gph fass. Anyway, if anyone can help me build this beast, your advice will be greatly appreciated!

get guages first and foremost. read the afc tuning and modding threads. i run a zero plate in my truck some people dont like it but it works great for me. also if you have a hack saw, grinder and sand paper save some cash and make your own plate. you can find template on ths site. oh and welcome to dieselbombers

I know the answer to this question is yes but just to be sure, can I run a #100 plate with the afc mod? And where is a good place to shop for gauges?

your better off going with no plate and doing the afc mods. ( there's alot of threads on this) but you definitely need gauges first and start saving for an aftermarket clutch.

dont take the plate out i put my truck on a dyno with out a plate and lost power to having a grinded #0 plate slide back about a 1/4 of an inch to where when u hit the throttle the foot in the pump just hits the plate dont let it miss it

I'm going to keep the plate in the afc because your egt's will go crazy and the rack has a potential to lock up if I take it out, Im not ready to kill this truck yet. Thanks for the input though guys. I'm still debating between the #0 and the #100 plate. I'm building it for sand drags. I've got my gauges and clutch (dual-disk) on order. I'm just getting the fuel setup together so I can throw all this together at once.

Tune your truck properly and you wont lose hp if you have the air to back it up.

Taking your plate out does not have any more potential to hang the rack. There are two different rack stops located in and outside of the pump that prevent it from traveling to far.
