Default Run away with 4k gsk

Ok so my truck doesn't truely run away cuz it shuts down properly. What it does do is if I start it up with my foot slightly on the throttle the RPMs just keep climbing, not extreemly rapidly but constantly and smoothly. If i start it without my foot on the throtttle at all it will idle, some times the RPM will climb alittle but then come back to idle. When I rev it though, if I go close to 2k it will just keep climbing. I was wondering if any one had seen this and if any one has any sugestions for fixing this.

My VE did something similar... it went from cruising speed to full revs but would idle down eventually and shut off. Turns out it had grenaded itself internally and needed a complete rebuild to the tune of $1300 Cnd.

I back the retainer out one click at a time, and every time I loosened it the idle would get lower but I would have the same problem with the RPM's climbing once I reved it. Though as I loosened the retainers it would rev a little bit higher with out getting stuck and climbing, though even when the RPMs would return to idle it was a verry slow return.

Did it start when you put the 4GSK in?

I was going toward the spring seats. The stockers are 2 piece. GSK are 1. If you didn't take both pieces out, it will want to free rev and return to idle slowly. Don't ask how I know.

I'm pretty sure that is what I did, cuz I only took one shim out and the seat I took out was only as big around as the smallest or second to smallest spring. Gonna try this again next week and post up what happens.

Yeah. I fished with a magnet the first time and only got half the seat and a shim. Was a pain in the butt to drive. Took it apart again, got the rest of the seat and 2 more shims. Let us know what you find out.
