The #6 plate is fairly mild in my opinion. I never got a lot of smoke with mine. Do an afc spring kit and adjust the diaphragm per the instructions and you should see a decent amount of smoke under initial acceleration. The spring kit will allow you to come off the afc quicker achieving full fuel faster. Also might check where the governor arm is hitting the plate could possibly hanging under the plate. 10 PSI @ cruising 70mph is about what I get.

Your sig says smoke screw all the way in. Are you refering to the screw on the back of you afc housing that adjusts preload on your diaphragm? Your transmission should not have any effect on your level of smoke.

The more I think about it, If your trans is slipping badly you moght not see any smoke because there is no load on engine. Also check you prefilterscreen. If you have time either slide your plate ff or pull it out and see what happens. If you dont see any smoke then you may need to look into some more mods exhaust sytem, gov springs, and afc spring kit I guarantee with those mods you'll be smokin and if not it is defintiely your tranny causing it.
