Default Turning up a 12 valve questions

Ok so I just had my buddy turn my star wheel just a little bit. I wanted more smoke and more power but didn't wanna do any long term dage to the engine or trans. After he did it he said it should have smoked more and more power so he's thinking my fuel filter is dirty which I'm replacing tomorrow or something with my lift pump. I have no idea how to tell if one is bad. He is talking about putting an electronic one on when it has a mechanical is ghat good or bad? And I don't wanna do anything thats gonna hurt the truck I just want a little more power and smoke. Should I turn the star wheel a little more? Or is a little bit ok. I was told to not mess with the fuel plate unless I wanted to spend some money on a new tranny but was also told it might be a good idea to get the tc and the vb replaced just in case. Any help on letting mr know if these little mods will hurt is very much appreciated and letting mr know what to do! Thanks!!!

just turning your starwheel really isnt going to do much. your mechanical lift pump will be fine for a while until you start makin considerably more power. transmission mods are a really good idea since stock dodge automatics absolutely suck. also, you really should get yourself some gauges, at least a pyrometer n a boost gauge before you touch anything in that injection pump. transmission temp n fuel pressure would also be some good ones.

you mean the pyro, boost and trans temp gauges?

a good pyrometer usually runs about 150+ a good boost gauge around 40+ and i dont know what a good trans temp gauge would run.

the pillar mounts are between 20-50 bucks depending on how many pods are on it.

also dodge autos do really suck but if your just wanting a little more power and smoke the easiest way to make power and smoke is to slide the stock plate forward but you wont see the biggest gain untill you get an aftermarket fuel plate.

i hope this helped some.

i got my A-pillar pod n gauges from glowshift but i forget how much they were, some ppl don't like glowshift cuz they're cheap, but i have yet to see any problems from them.
n you probably are talkin about the lift pump, not the injection pump.

It has a lot! Thanks! But I was told not to mess with the fuel plate much unless I wanted to drop some money in on tranny stuff and I don't have all that money

Slide the stock plate forward some or buy a #10 plate and put it in the stock position.

if you slide the stock plate forward you should be alright, just aslong as you dont use a trans lockup switch before second gear or so.

if you act sensible and not slam on it all the time you should be fine.
