12v Rebuild Upgrades
I'm rebuilding my 1998 12v and I'm looking for help choosing a turbo and injectors that will work with my BD-Exhaust brake. Seems all the upgrade turbos require a 4" downpipe that would eliminate my exhaust brake. Will a BD reman or PDR HX35 be the only choice? If so, is it worth it to get the 50hp injectors?
I'm also considering the AFE Bladerunner intake and silicone hoses. Any thoughts on those?
Mods I already have: #6 plate, 3k gsk, 4" MBRB turbo back exhaust, pyro, boost, trans temp, DTT Trans with billet shaft, 60lb springs, KDP done, timed to 16.
BTW, I melted number six piston, watching all the guages but the engine temp...oops! Aluminum coated the exhaust valve and went through the exhuast housing.

you could go with a 14cm upgrade exhaust housing on your stock turbo, or you could get a hx40, take the large housing off and the exhaust fan and put the 14cm housing on that with your exhaust fan out of the 35, thats what im running and is working great and it still has a 3" v band so your stock down pipe will bolt up
the inj will work just watch your temps if your going to use the stock charger, i ran 370s on a stocker for a few years and only burnered up one turbo because i didnt have gauges

We tore the engine apart last weekend. The cam had pitting on the exhaust lobes. Anyone ever heard of that at 126k miles? I've been running the 60lb springs with the exhaust brake since it was new almost - 100k miles. Machine shop tells me they've been seeing premature wear on cams with those springs.
Ditching the intake - thanks for the advise on that.

Most Ive pulled had pitting on the exhaust lobes, The springs have nothing to do with it, or every marine engine that is run at 2600rpm for hours on end would have wiped cams. If its really bad to the point the lobe is wiped replace the cam and tappets.
Also newer oils with "Lower Zinc" have nothing to do with the issue you are seeing.
