3k spring install with no factory shims
So I finally got around to installing my 3k govenor spring kit after much reading and making sure that I was ready for the task. I decided to go in from the side instead of the top. It took me 2 hours, yea I know im slow but just wanted to take some extra time to make sure I did the job rite. Well after worrying about droppin the shims in the pump I was amazed that there where no factory shims. At first I was worried but I remember reading a thread about the shims which stated that some pumps didnt have shims. Is this true? So I was releaved. I was happy with the install and now im more confident about doing it again. I just have one question. Could someone explain to me what happens when u set the springs tight verses setting the springs loose. I am just wandering how this affects performance.

I didnt really pay attention to the clicks that much. I payed more attention to setting it like the factory had it. I set them to around .045 or so. I did notice that the idle did go up a lil. It raised the idle about 150-200 rpm... So I guess tomorrow ill have to set the idle down a lil..

I have been noticing that the truck has been seeming a lil sluggish, its been getting worse. When I installed the springs I could defiantly tell a diff but the truck just dont feel rite. I think that it is the tranny. The truck has 165,000 miles on it with no rebuild on the tranny. I have had to put 2 converters (stock ones) in the past year. I think its loosing internal pressure and not letting the converter lock up and hold like it should.. I also think the clutches are slipping. It is very sluggish from a start. Whats your opinion?
