Do I need any special tools to install the springs?

yes, a valve spring compressor. a lot of guys say the lisle too works good but i didnt like mine much.

which springs are you talking about? you dont need any special tools for the govenor springs, but to do the valve springs you need the spring compressor

Get 4k springs. If you can watch the tach, you don't need the 60lb valve springs. Keep it under 3200 and you are good.

id stick with 3ks as your head needs to be done to handel any higher than 3200.

x2 but if you ever do get around to doing injectors on it i know DDP makes good injectors and turbonetics torque master Stage 1, Or BD power super B special Single Turbo upgrade and if you did that like I said I agree with Studding the Head

Someday some will explain to me why people want to go about modding their rides and they always look past the very important pieces first.All the power in the world and RPM"s will do you know good if the motor is always too hot or can not apply the power to the ground.

IMO..
If you do not have the cash to upgrade the transmission then adding any type of extra RPM or fueling will not help you at all,especially when you stated you tow alot.
You should be considering the transmission upgrades first to apply the power and worry about power later.

Im actually gonna do the tranny within the next month or so Hammer. Ive been talkin to Diesel Pap bout a tranny built by Brian Vannest.
