if your going crazy with twin turbos and oring/fire rings than soemthing like head bolts is the LAST place you want to cheap out. do it once do it right and dont do it again. go with good studs and a thicker headgasket

I wouldn't go with a thicker gasket unless you've taken material off the head/block.

i think they are the middle of the road thing. we put them in my 6.7 while we were changing out the head gasket. in my opinion anytime you take your head off you need to have it milled. the .020 over marine cummins gasket is a good way to go on a 12v.

how much boost are you running and how hard on you on your truck?

i know it varys between set ups and how much fuel im running but what kind of boost do you think i will see running a 40 with a 14cm housing over a ht3b?

on my 97 12v i have a s400 . it is around 60lb boost. it is a sled puller now. we have guys in the open diesel class running head bolts. if you are going to be up at the 70 number i would go with studs. we sell them also

I did some rough calculations a while back based on the diameter and tensile strength of of the bolts versus studs. Diesel Paps bolts are at least 38% stronger than the stock bolts, and the standard ARP studs are at least 55% stronger than stock bolts.

The bolts would probably do OK with a 500hp single turbo engine, with reasonable timing(16.5 or less). That's just an educated guess though Much more than that, I'd use the studs.

If you do use the bolts, make sure they all have the right washers under them.
