$1700 for just o rings and springs? yes that sounds very high. I bought a new head, with springs, o rings, valve job, and a port and polish for $ 2200.
|
humm we are taking about the same rings right? the stainless steel ones that go around each cylinder? that was the price a local shop gave me, maybe it also included their labor to pull the head, whats a good price to just get the head rresurfaced, o rings, and the springs installed, i can pull the head myself now so i dont really need to use the shop anymore

Tranny...
|
its on the top of the list, anyone know where i could find a burnt or bad triple disk tc? i have a conection to get them rebuilt
|
I have a good tranny for sale with a tripple disk a suncoast valve body and a manual valve body billet shafts good clutches and steels. Only thing is it is a 47re.
|
ya i like the way my tranny shifts and stuff, its the earlier 3 pin one and i have lock-up and od on switches, my valve body is also pretty good for now im just worried about the input shaft, tc, and flex plate. I already have a billet tc but its only a single disk, and i have already tore the stock flex plate out once with it.
as for the clutch packs and stuff me and a friend built my internals already and it wont cost me much to upgrade all that stuff- the parts are cheap enough |

does around $1700 sound like a good deal to do the machine work on the head? thats for the o rings as well i believe
so for just a valve job, orings and springs i will say that is high. if that is removed and installed i'd almost call it a deal because all the gaskets will run you ~$100....... then you have labor and all to add to it..... |
im going to do all the labor of pulling it off and puting it back on, should i get it port and polished? or do i would i need this for what im tryin to do with the truck?
|
i will say it will help, but it is a factor that has a big cost for a little return. a good port job will cost $700-$1000, it will net lower EGT's more flow through the head and more power, i can't say an exact number but there are other things that will make as much power for the same money or less.....
that being said i'm shooting for 650hp+ at the wheels so it was one of those things that i opted to get done. also be ware that not just anyone can port a diesel head. there is more to it than just making the ports larger. the ONLY reason i am letting this guy do mine is because i KNOW he knows what he is doing.... |
ya i read somewhere that it doesnt do as much for a diesel as it does for a gas motor, is around 500bux for the head studs about the lowest price out there? and whats a safe size for a mild appilcation like mine?
