dont really plan on going more then 350 hp ... maybe 400 tops ... but just want to up the charger a bit cuz i know that the 12cm housing can be a bit restrictive once upgrading from what i have read and been told ... so then i could just find a stock hx40 and swap it in ? what mods would i need to do (other then the 4'' dp since i already have one )

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

would the hx40 be a decent upgrade for the price ... i have found a few for around 300 bucks

if you go with a tru 40 you will have to get a new downpipe, your stock turbo uses a 3.5" v-band flange and the 40 will use a 4" one, i had a tru 40 on my truck when i just had a #5 ff and it was so slow to spool, i think you need a bit a fuel to run one efficently?

just a question but wouldnt get a bigger exhaust housing be a good upgrade for an application like this? they only cost like 250 for a holset one and bolt right in, like a 14 or 16cm one? you spool would be quicker than a 40 with a 18 and your egts would be low enough

That power goal would be easy to hit with a set of 5x12 injectors and a Aurora 3000 turbo which is a 58mm. With the right AFC tuning that'd put you close to the high 300s/low 400s. That is quick spooling and I think for that setup you'd really like it. Yeah its a little pricey but that includes the downpipe as well. Also if you ever want to upgrade, then just add the Aurora 5000 and you got a nice compound set up.

ya im not lookin to spend like 1500 bucks ... was wanting like under 500 .. thats why i was wondering if upgrading from the stock 35 to like a stock 40 would be better or get a different comp housing ... eventually i would like to up to a much better turbo but for now its mostly wanting to help with egts a bit ... they arent out of control ... but want to keep them in check expecially before i get injectors

Upgrading to the 40 will help keep your egts down a good bit. Right before I did my pump rebuild and tore down my engine this past winter/spring I dynoed 392/974 with 4k GSK 0 Plate in stock location, tuned AFC, Marine 370s (5x12) and my hx35 but that setup pegged my pyro in a matter of seconds, it might have been a little different if I had a set of 370s that had the correct spray pattern but for $250 they were a nice boost in power
