Default tc lock up switch

i understand all auto's slip a little allowing less stress on the output shaft. it seems at times my 20,000 mile rebuild will have a little trouble locking in 2 to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. tranny fliud and filter just changed and next to no shavings on magnet in bottom of pan. is a tc lock up switch a little risky with stock output shaft? being you should not let it shift with tc switch on. so you can not just leave it on through the gears, but time it before it shifts(on or off) i hope this makes sense as not sure if the tc switch is the way to go. just hate that feeling of tc not always locking the way i want it to. any advise would be appreciated!!!!

so i guess you need to know exactly when the tps shifts for each gear to time the shifts in terms of MPH. i just hate that slippage when the converter is not locking. isn't it more common 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 to have that slippage? or is it in all gears?

well then what would the slipagge be due to? it was a full rebuild of 3200 dollars with shift kit and low stall converter ( pdq coverter) not sure if it is a single disc or not. don't know alot about trannys but what would be the cause of this? only does it once in a while. band adjustment? shifts really good and hard, just seems like converter not locking the way it should always. maybe i'am just nuts!!!!!!

a single disk tc will have a solid ring around the outside where the bolts got thru the flex plate, a stock tc just has taps welded on, and a triples tc is all even.

as for the lock up switch, i have mine wired up on a monetary switch and a relay hook to the brake lights to turn in off and i just have a single disk tc with stock shafts, i put in lock up in 2nd and it doesnt come out of lock up until i make it come out, im very hard on my truck and pull almost daily for around 15k miles now and i dont have problems with the shafts

ya people snap input shafts. output shafts usually arent much of a problem.

i have already shattered my stock flex plate once, i just put another one i had laying around so we will see how long it last, i would love to build the tranny but other things keep coming up and money is tight.

i forgot to mention that before oh and my tc is a single disk billet tc, i also have extra clutches in the forward pack and a hd cevlar front band, shift kit, and the tc lock up hole drilled out in the valve body, od is also on a switch

i dont disagree with you guys, arent the shafts good for like 400 or 500hp tho?
