arp's directions call for no heat cycles, all the retorques are done cold

torque them to 135lbs, and wile you have the head off bottom tap block. dont machine the rockers just grind out the valve covers a little.......its faster and alot cheaper. did you get the .020 over marine gasket?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

get the new gasket in, get it to operating temp

do a retorque

get it back to temp, do a retorque

let it cool down to the block is luke warm, and do a retorque

most likely you will need to readjust the valves

drive it for a day or so, not much boost

do another retorque

drive it and get all of it, dent the floor board with the pedel

retorque and check valve adj

Machine the pedestals. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

.020 gaskets are great for lower compression, haze at idle, improper fuel atomazation, hard starts, melting/cracking pistons do to improper injector protrusion into the piston bowl

you can spend the money machining the pedestals, but what about the years they were selling studs and didnt recomend machineing them? you can just leave the washer off the pedestals and if you bottom tap the block you dont have to do anything

thats why you run thinner injector washers with the thicker gasket.

I bottom tapped my holes and used the washers like your suposed to and have had no problems. also it took me 20 min to mod all 5 of my rocker pedestals, to me its worth doing right
