Anybody ever rebuilt their starter?
#21
I'm rebuilding my starter tomorrow in my dads shop (and straight piping my truck hehe) wish me luck guys!! Truck is getting harder and harder to start and today for the 2nd time the truck doesn't want to try turning over at all

My damn starter wont even turn my motor over again (second time it's not started at ALL.. last time it started the following morning). So I'm gonna have my wifes pacifica pull-start the truck with a ****** strap I'm thinking. Wish me luck on this one too

Well, Project: Starter Rebuild was a terrific FAILURE. The contacs and brushes were SHOT, like you guys said they would be, but I couldn't get the damn new brushes to torch to the brass ring. I ended up soldering the wires on the new brushes to the old brushes already attached to the brass ring and the starter fried on teh battery jumper after the 2nd jump because the solder ground out against the starter case. Bought a lifetime warranty battery from advanced for 171$. This sucks. Everything else was cake, minus the brush-torching
